Thymus Transplant for T-Cell Production

A patient with DiGeorge syndrome presents for thymus graft placement. An incision is made over the midportion of the anterior compartment of the right thigh. Throughout the compartment, muscle furrows were raised and donor thymus graft was implanted within each furrow. Each furrow was oversewn with sutures for fixation. The fascia was left open and the fat and skin were closed in layers. Additional thymus graft was also placed into the left thigh in a similar fashion.
