Torus Fracture

Effective October 1, 2009, new codes have been created to identify torus fractures of other sites. Torus or buckle fractures are extremely common injuries seen in children and generally occur from axial loading on a long bone of an extremity, such as falling on an outstretched arm. Torus fractures are most common in the radius (a new code, 813.45, was added for torus fracture of radius in 2002); however, they can also involve either the ulna alone (813.46), or both the radius and ulna (813.47).
