Transient Global Amnesia

Transient global amnesia (TGA), first described in 1956 as a distinct form of amnesia with an unknown etiology, is defined by a fairly classical presentation of a sudden loss of memory function. During the episode the patient loses the ability to form memories and is unable to remember recent events. The patient often presents with questions concerning temporal orientation, only to ask the same questions over and over due to the inability to form memory for the answers.
