Transurethral readiofrequency (RF) thermal therapy

A new HCPCS code C9748, Transurethral destruction of prostate tissue; by radiofrequency water vapor (steam) thermal therapy, was created for the reporting of transurethral radiofrequency thermal therapy. The transurethral radiofrequency thermal therapy is utilized in the treatment of benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH) via radiofrequency generated thermal therapy in the form of water vapor. This therapy is applied directly to the extra prostate tissue, which causes symptoms such as, urgency, frequency, and irregular flow.
