In the First Quarter 1993 Coding Clinic for ICD-9-CM, page 28, the code assignment for right thumb trapeziectomy with flexor carpi radialis ligament reconstruction and tendon interposition arthroplasty (base of metacarpal) was given as code 82.57, Transplantation of muscle and tendon of hand, and code 81.72, Arthroplasty of metacarpophalangeal and interphalangeal joint without implant. Wouldn't the correct assignment be code 82.57 and code 81.75, Arthroplasty of carpocarpal or carpometacarpal joint without implant? ...
