November 2013 pages 9-10 Digestive System: 2014 Catheter-Directed Fluid Collection Drainage Code Changes Several of the drainage of abscess with imaging guidance codes (49021, 49041, and 49061) were identified by the American Medical Association (AMA)/Specialty Society Relative Value Scale (RVS) Update Committee (RUC) as being frequently reported together with image guidance code 75989. Based upon observation, RUC requested that a more comprehensive bundled code structure be developed for this family of codes.
