April 2015 page 8 Coding Correction: Definition of Sacroplasty The "Coding Update: Percutaneous Vertebroplasty and Vertebral Augmentation" article in the January 2015 CPT Assistant incorrectly states that "[s]acral augmentation (sacroplasty), which is reported with Category III codes 0200T and 0201T, refers to injection of a material into the sacral vertebral body with or without creation of a cavity." This is inaccurate because the injection of a material (eg, polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) bone cement) into the sacrum without cavity creation should be reported with CPT code 22511, Percutaneous vertebroplasty (bone biopsy included when performed), 1 vertebral body, unilateral or bilateral...
