Instructions for revenue code reporting
Neither CMS nor Coding Clinic for HCPCS provides instructions to hospitals on the assignment of HCPCS codes to revenue codes for services provided under the outpatient prospective payment system (OPPS).
Please note, that CMS has deleted previous language that provided guidance on HCPCS code and revenue code billing but has emphasized that the revenue code needs to match to the appropriate cost center where the expense was incurred.
