Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy
A large number of inclusion terms were listed under code 600, Hyperplasia of prostate. To enable the distinction between hard, nodular prostate lesions, and soft, smooth diffuse lesions, code 600 has been expanded. The terms "hypertrophy (benign) of prostate" and "benign localized hyperplasia of prostate" are now assigned to different codes, therefore the selection of the proper 600 code will be based on the terminology found in the physician documentation in the medical record.
