Coronary Artery Bypass
The Central Office on ICD-9-CM has received several inquiries regarding the answer given in Coding Clinic, Second Quarter 1996, regarding coronary artery bypass. The operative report in question states that the patient had a coronary artery bypass times four using exclusively arterial conduits: left internal mammary artery to the LAD, in situ right gastroepiploic artery anastomosis to the right posterior descending, two separate grafts using left radial artery to the obtuse marginal and to the first diagonal arteries.
