Pressurized Treatment of Venous Bypass Graft
Effective October 1, 2004, a new procedure code (00.16) has been created to describe pressurized treatment of venous bypass graft with a pharmaceutical substance in order to enhance surgical outcome. The vein graft is treated under pressure with this type of gene therapy prior to coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) and peripheral arterial bypass procedures. The vein grafts utilized for CABG and peripheral arterial bypass procedures have thinner walls than the coronary arteries.
