Question
The obstetrician in our office performs
fetal nonstress tests. Would it be appropriate
to report CPT code 59025, Fetal nonstress
test, for this procedure or code 76818,
Fetal biophysical profile; with non-stress
testing? In performing this procedure, the
obstetrician evaluates acceleration of the fetal
heart rate with fetal movement, in addition to
fetal diaphragmatic breathing movements, fetal
body movements, fetal tone, and quantification
of amniotic fluid volume.
