Question: Is it appropriate to report codes 15271-15278 when a physician affixes Apligraf® or Dermagraft® using steri-strips?
Answer: Yes. It is appropriate to report these codes if steri-strips are used for fixation. The introduction to the Skin Replacement Surgery section of the CPT codebook indicates that "the graft is anchored using the individual's choice of fixation" (CPT® 2014; p 78).
