nameHepatitis B virus surface Ag [Presence] in Serum or Plasma by Confirmatory method
descriptionAll of the major laboratories whose web sites we explored perform a confirmatory test to verify positive results on their routine HBS Ag EIA test. Some indicate that the confirmatory test requires and an extra charge, some do not. We believe that at present (2011) the confirmatory test is usually a neutralization test. But only one lab that we reviewed specified the method as such. This term covers all confirmatory methods and will not require changing if/when confirmatory methods change.

change reasonThe scale has been changed from ACnc to reflect new model for ordinal terms; The PrThr property is used for LOINC terms whose results are reported using an ordered categorical scale, regardless of whether or not an internal threshold was used to make that determination. This change was approved by the Laboratory LOINC Committee in June 2016.
