Lactate dehydrogenase in body fluid/Lactate dehydrogenase in serum   75639-5

LOINC Code

LOINC code75639-5
nameLactate dehydrogenase in body fluid/Lactate dehydrogenase in serum
descriptionLDH body fluid to LDH serum ratio aids in determining whether a fluid is an exudate (actively secreted fluid, e.g. due to inflammation), or transudate (passively secreted fluid, due to high hydrostatic pressure or low oncotic pressure). The usual criterion is that a ratio of fluid LDH versus upper limit of normal serum LDH of more than 0.6 or 2⁄3 indicates an exudate, while a ratio of less indicates a transudate.

propertyRelRto  =  Relative Ratio
timePt  =  Point in time:  To identify measures at a point in time. This is a synonym for “spot” or “random” as applied to urine measurements.
systemBody fld+Ser/Plas
    Body fld  =  Body fluid, unspecified
    Ser  =  Serum
    Plas  =  Plasma
scaleQn  =  Quantitative:  The result of the test is a numeric value that relates to a continuous numeric scale. Reported either as an integer, a ratio, a real number, or a range. The test result value may optionally contain a relational operator from the set {<=, <, >, >=}. Valid values for a quantitative test are of the form "7", "-7", "7.4", "-7.4", "7.8912", "0.125", "<10", "<10.15", ">12000", 1-10, 1:256
