| description | The presence of gastric pepsin A in a patient's airway is a marker for aspiration and assists in the diagnosis of gastroesophageal reflux. [PMID: 16954956] This assay detects both pepsin A and pepsinogen A and does not differentiate between the two. A level of less than 3 is considered in range.
