We've updated the "Code History" section on the code information pages:

In addition to the code description changes, the "Code History" section now also shows changes from quarter to quarter for NCCI Edits - for both Facility and non-Facility - and Medicare RVUs. Change types may be shown or hidden using the checkmark-buttons. The changes are listed by date, most recent to oldest:

As part of the Medicare fee changes for Alternative Payment Model (APM) QP (Qualifying Practitioners), Find-A-Code as implemented support for APM QP Fees in various parts of the site.

First, when configuring a location, you'll be able to designate that location as being a QP or Non-QP:

After which fees will automatically adjust on the code page and dashboard:

Search Result Sequence Update

We've added sorting by code when the search results provide the same relevance value for a set of codes. For example, in a search on "diabetes" the sequence changes to respect the code values rather than showing an apparently random listing of diabetes codes.

Although GEMs are somewhat dated, we've UPdated the GEMs and RMs display area on the code information pages as part of our ongoing website refresh project.  In the near future the GEMs/RMs will be moved into the Cross-A-Code section of the code information page in order to consolidate the display for the millions of crosswalks (and counting) that Find-A-Code has developed.

We're pleased to announce that DEA Controlled Substances information has been added to Find-A-Code. The drug information includes the CSCN (Controlled Substance Code Number), drug name, drug class, CSA Schedule (I - V), narcotic status (Y/N) and other names of the drug:

We have added "CSCN - DEA Controlled Substances" as a new option to the "codes | drugs & vaccines" menu at the top of the page:

When viewing an NDC code a new section will show DEA Controlled Substances information:

When viewing a drug by a GPI code the DEA Controlled Substances information will show on the NDC tab:

We've improved our support for HCC data to include accounting for Age and/or Sex restrictions. For example, ICD-10-CM code D66 now risk adjusts differently for Male vs Female. Here's the female version:

As you can see there is quite the difference!

Extra information can include, Fees, RVUs, Global Days, Includes/Excludes/Notes, Common Language Descriptions (CLDs), Add-on codes, similar/related codes and more.

As a subscriber you will see the "+" buttons at the start of each search results. For non-subscribers you can see some examples of the details sections for a variety of search result types. Select the "+" button on the "Sample" title:

The WK Drug Dictionary addon lists drugs related to a given ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, or HCPCS code.
The display now includes information based on the acceptance level of the indicated drug, such as "FDA Approved", "Generally Accepted", "Limited Evidence", and "Investigational".

Expansion of Code-level Guidelines

All guidelines applicable to a code now appear when viewing that individual code. For example, if you look at code 11042 in a printed book, there is a single guideline that states “(For debridement of skin [ie, epidermis and/or dermis only], see 97597, 97598)”. However, if you look after code 11047, there is a guideline that states “(Do not report 11042-11047 in conjunction with 97597-97602 for the same wound)”. FindACode.com now lists both guidelines below code 11042, so you don’t have to go looking for this important information.

SNOMED CT is an organized set of medical concepts. Concepts are coded with a concept ID number and are linked to language specific terms, synonyms and definitions that are used in clinical documentation, claims billing and reporting. Concepts are linked together in logical connections to create aggregate concepts or conditions. Concepts have a network-type hierarchy where each concept can have multiple parents and multiple children.

These concepts, hierarchies, terms, and definitions can now be searched in the IntelliSearch.

Find-A-Code has incorporated some long-awaited changes to the display of CPT®/HCPCS information. The goal was to both expand the data we have available as well as to clarify which data comes from which source. These changes include: 

We expanded the "Additional Code Information" section to include additional indicators from the cms.gov official HCPCS data file:

        


As part of this we also introduced 5 new "HCPCS Coverage" icons. These are white letters on a green background:

       

We also took the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule attributes and moved them to their own sub-section inside "Additional Code Information" section:

       


The "Status Code" attribute has its own new icon as well, a white letter on a blue background:

       

Note: CPT® has identical icons for CPT MPFS.
Both of these new icons will now display up at the top of the page with the code description:

       

Now that we will have more accurate icons, we are retiring the following older "Medicare" icons that were hard to distinguish between and confusing to many individuals:

        

Important: These icons will be removed starting March 8th, 2021.

Finally, pertinent information has also been incorprated into a HCPCS Code Dashboard at the bottom of the screen:

Launched the new NotePad tool, a new icon shows in the header
When the icon is selected, the "notepad" window will open: Notes may be added ("new" button) or removed ("delete" button) and the text of the note may be copied to the computer's clipboard by selecting the "copy" button.

On the Home page the "news/articles" items have been split into two columns: "news" and "articles".  "news" items will be limited to new products, updates, and tips/tricks to using FAC features.  The "articles" column will list the 5 most recent articles.  Note, not all articles are featured in the weekly Spotlight newsletter so some articles listed here will not have been emailed in the Spotlight newsletter and it's possible that the most recently emailed Spotlight article is no longer showing in the list due to the addition of newer articles.

Changed in header menu and footer menu: "Newsletters" - "Find-A-Code Spotlight" to "Find-A-Code Articles".  Not all of the articles Find-A-Code publishes are included in the weekly "Spotlight" newsletters.  So the "Articles" label is more descriptive than the "Spotlight" name.
