CT Guided Needle Aspiration of Intervertebral Disk

The patient underwent T11-T12 disk space aspiration and core needle biopsy. Under CT control, a 16-gauge guiding catheter was placed with tip in the middle of the T11-T12 disk. Approximately 5 ml of fluid was aspirated and sent to the laboratory for gram-strain and culture. Core needle biopsies were also obtained and sent for cytology.
