The following information from the Medicare Learning Network provides guidance from the Department of Health and Human Services on Glaucoma Screening:
|G0117 -||Glaucoma screening for high risk patients furnished by an optometrist or ophthalmologist|
|G0118 -||Glaucoma screening for high risk patient furnished under the direct supervision of an optometrist or ophthalmologist|
Who Is Covered
Medicare beneficiaries who fall into at least one of the following high risk categories:
- Individuals with diabetes mellitus
- Individuals with a family history of glaucoma
- African-Americans aged 50 and older
- Hispanic-Americans aged 65 and older
Medicare Beneficiary Pays
- Copayment/coinsurance applies
- Deductible applies
