name
descriptionA sample of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) is collected using a procedure called a lumbar puncture or spinal tap. Often, three or more separate tubes of CSF are collected (tube 1, tube 2, tube 3), and multiple tests may be run on the different tubes. Normal CSF glucose is about 2/3 the concentration of blood glucose. Glucose levels may decrease when cells not normally present metabolize glucose. This may include bacteria or cells present due to inflammation (WBCs) or shed by tumors. [Lab Tests Online]

propertySCnc  =  Substance Concentration
timePt  =  Point in time:  To identify measures at a point in time. This is a synonym for “spot” or “random” as applied to urine measurements.
systemCSF  =  Cerebral spinal fluid
scaleQn  =  Quantitative:  The result of the test is a numeric value that relates to a continuous numeric scale. Reported either as an integer, a ratio, a real number, or a range. The test result value may optionally contain a relational operator from the set {<=, <, >, >=}. Valid values for a quantitative test are of the form "7", "-7", "7.4", "-7.4", "7.8912", "0.125", "<10", "<10.15", ">12000", 1-10, 1:256
