Early gastric cancer growth patterns are classified using criteria similar to those used in endoscopy, including protruded (Type 0-I), elevated (Type 0-IIa), flat (Type 0-IIb), depressed (Type 0-IIc) or excavated (Type 0-III). Depressed type has a higher risk for increased stage and lymphatic invasion.
