CMS recognizes CPT codes for bone marrow and stem cell services

Effective January 1, 2008, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS) began recognizing CPT codes 38207 through 38215 for the reporting of bone marrow and stem cell processing services under the Outpatient Prospective Payment System (OPPS). HCPCS codes G0265, G0266 and G0267, which were formerly used to report these services, have been discontinued and are no longer recognized by CMS under the OPPS. On page 4 is a table of the discontinued HCPCS codes and the newly recognized CPT codes and their corresponding code descriptors.
