CPT code changes for skin biopsies

CPT codes 11100, Biopsy of skin, subcutaneous tissue and/or mucous membrane (including simple closure), unless otherwise listed; single lesion, and CPT code 11101, Biopsy of skin, subcutaneous tissue and/or mucous membrane (including simple closure), unless otherwise listed; each separate/additional lesion, will be deleted effective January 1, 2018. These CPT codes will be replaced with new codes for skin biopsies that will be based on the technique utilized, such as punch, incisional.
