Endoscopic elastography of the liver

A patient with cirrhosis and an abnormal abdominal/pelvic CT scan presented for esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) with biopsy and an endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) elastography of the liver. Pressure measurements of the hepatic vascular anatomy were also performed. The endoscope was passed under direct vision through the mouth and advanced to the second part of the duodenum. The esophagus, stomach and duodenum were all normal. The EUS elastography of the liver was performed showing liver stiffness. Shear wave measurements were performed to identify the elasticity of the tissue, which was normal. The hepatic vasculature including the hepatic and portal veins were identified and pressure measurements were obtained.
