Insertion of patellar component following TKA

A patient with a previous left total knee arthroplasty (TKA), without initial replacement of the patella, presents for resurfacing/replacement of the patellar component and replacement of the original tibial polyethylene liner. The extremity was exposed using the prior knee incision. Sharp dissection was carried down to the fascia followed by a medial arthrotomy. The polyethylene liner was then removed. The patella was everted and prepared using an oscillating saw. The trial liner was placed achieving full extension and flexion with excellent stability with a centrally tracking patella. All trial components were removed and the final polyethylene liner component was inserted into the tibia. The final new patellar component was cemented into place.
