New CPT codes for COVID-19 vaccines

The American Medical Association (AMA) has approved new CPT Category I codes for reporting Sars-CoV-2 vaccines. New product code 91317 and administration code 0173A are reported for the administration of the Pfizer-BioNTech bivalent vaccine when administered as a third dose in the primary series, (with the first two doses reported with 91308, 0081A, 0082A) in children 6 months through 4 years of age. Additionally, CPT vaccine product code 91316 and administration code 0164A are used to report a booster dose of the Moderna bivalent vaccine to children 6 months through 5 years of age.As vaccine codes and guidance...
