New CT modifier
As of January 1, 2017, modifier CT, Computed tomography services furnished using equipment that does not meet each of the attributes of the national electrical manufacturers association (NEMA) XR-29-2013 standard, was established to identify computed tomography (CT) scans that are furnished on equipment that does not meet the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) Standard XR-29-2013, entitled “Standard Attributes on CT Equipment Related to Dose Optimization and Management.”
Hospitals are required to use this modifier for computed tomography (CT) scans described by applicable HCPCS codes for non-NEMA Standard XR-29-2013-compliant equipment. The applicable CT services are listed in...
