New HCPCS codes for certain drugs and biologicals

The CMS has created two new HCPCS codes for the reporting of certain drugs and biologicals in the hospital outpatient setting. The new HCPCS codes listed below were effective for the reporting of services since July 1, 2013. HCPCSLong descriptorQ2050* Injection, Doxorubicin hydrochloride, liposomal, not otherwise specified, 10 mg Q2051** Injection, Zoledronic acid, not otherwise specified, 1 mg Doxorubicin is a drug utilized in cancer chemotherapy treatment and Zoledronic acid is utilized in the treatment of a variety of bone disorders. *HCPCS code Q2050 replaced HCPCS code J9002, Injection, Doxorubicin Hydrochloride, Liposomal, Doxil, 10 mg, as of July 1...
