New HCPCS Codes forWarfarin Testing and HIV Screening Tests

A new Level II HCPCS code was recently created by CMS to capture pharmacogenomic testing for warfarin responsiveness. CMS has determined that screening for Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection is reasonable and necessary for early detection of HIV. Therefore, three (3) new Level II HCPCS G-codes were created to capture the screening tests performed for detection of HIV.
