Proper billing of outpatient surgical procedures
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has provided instruction for the proper billing of outpatient surgical procedures in a Program Memorandum (PM), Transmittal #A-03-014. These instructions were previously posted on CMS’s website in a question and answer. CMS felt it necessary to reiterate the instructions by means of a program memorandum.
