Our facility has had a number of pacemaker pocket revisions where the pocket is relocated to a submuscular site rather than enlarging the existing subcutaneous pocket. Since the pocket revision CPT codes 33222, Revision or relocation of skin pocket for pacemaker, and 33223, Revision of skin pocket for cardioverter-defibrillator, specify subcutaneous would it be appropriate to report CPT code 21899, Unlisted procedure, neck or thorax, for the creation of a submuscular cardiac device pocket? ...
