We are getting conflicting information regarding the coding and reporting of a suction assisted lipectomy (SAL) of the breast with a breast reduction. At our facility, we have always considered a suction assisted lipectomy (SAL) of the breast area to be included in CPT code 19318, Reduction mammaplasty, and not separately reported. Recently, we were instructed that the SAL could be separately reported.
