Amnioinfusion
Effective October 1, 1998, code 75.37 has been created to report amnioinfusion. Prior to this, no code was assigned for this procedure since it was considered to be a part of an assisted delivery. Amnioninfusion is the controlled instillation of sterile normal saline or lactated Ringer's solution into the uterine cavity to replace the amniotic fluid. The procedure may be performed transcervically or transabdominally antepartum or during labor. Amnioinfusion is used to correct variable decelerations in the fetal heart due to cord compression.
