Angioscopy involves the insertion of miniature, flexible fiberoptic bundles into the blood vessels. The instrumentation can provide an enhanced "road map" in directing and modifying intraoperative cardiovascular surgical therapy. Angioscopy has advantages over conventional angiography, especially for patients who have a history of allergic reactions to or renal failure caused by contrast agents.
