This article is the first annual update to the V code article published in Coding Clinic for ICD-9-CM, Fourth Quarter 1996. New V code subcategories and codes have been created as part of the October 1, 1997 and October 1, 1998 addenda. The modifications for both years are included in this article. Additionally, certain modifications have been made to the V code Table due to changes in sequencing rules.
