Complex Febrile Seizure
Effective October 1, 2006, code 780.32, Complex febrile convulsions, has been created to identify complex febrile seizure. These seizures may also be referred to as atypical or complicated febrile seizure. A febrile seizure is defined as a convulsion that is associated with an elevated body temperature. A simple febrile seizure lasts for about 10 minutes and does not recur within the next 24 hours. A complex febrile seizure is one that lasts longer than 15 minutes, is localized to one part of the body, or recurs within 24 hours. Febrile seizures affect children between the age of 6...
