Effective October 1, 2006, code 780.32, Complex febrile convulsions, has been created to identify complex febrile seizure. These seizures may also be referred to as atypical or complicated febrile seizure. A febrile seizure is defined as a convulsion that is associated with an elevated body temperature. A simple febrile seizure lasts for about 10 minutes and does not recur within the next 24 hours.
