Article Overview
This article covers coding-related updates for endometrial ablation and partial cholecystectomy, along with a brief case-based coding question involving a laparoscopic gallbladder remnant procedure. It is relevant for coders, billers, CDI specialists, and other revenue cycle professionals who work with procedure coding changes and diagnosis/procedure assignment in surgical documentation. The discussion focuses on how certain procedure terms were revised, added, or reassigned in the source coding system and how a clinical scenario is matched to the appropriate procedural and diagnostic codes.
Why This Topic Matters
Articles like this help coding professionals keep up with procedure code updates and understand how surgical documentation may map to the correct diagnosis and procedure entries. Accurate code awareness is especially important when older terminology, reinstituted codes, or minimally invasive approaches are involved.
