Isthmocele

Code N85.A, Isthmocele, was created to identify isthmocele for the gynecologic (non-pregnant) patient population. An isthmocele (cesarean scar defect) is any indentation indicating myometrial discontinuity or a triangular anechoic defect in the anterior uterine wall, at the location of a previous cesarean section scar. It is typically asymptomatic; however, a patient may experience chronic pelvic pain and abnormal or postmenstrual bleeding.
