Laparoscopic repair of vaginal cuff dehiscence
A patient who was status post robotic total hysterectomy with bilateral salpingectomy presented with vaginal cuff dehiscence. Upon vaginal examination, mucosa was palpated confirming an open vaginal cuff. Bowel was suspected to be adherent to the vaginal apex. Therefore, a decision was made to proceed with a laparoscopic lysis of adhesions. Trocars were inserted into the umbilicus and abdomen. Lysis of adhesions was performed including adhesions into the pelvis. The area of bowel adherent to the vagina apex required removal with sharp dissection.
