Note: As of October 1, 2008 fifth digits for categories 203-208 have been revised and expanded. In the Fourth Quarter, 1990, Coding Clinic, page 3, coders were instructed to use code V10.6x, Personal history of leukemia, in remission, as the principal diagnosis for patients with leukemia "in remission" who were admitted for autologous bone marrow transplantation. Effective October 1, 1991, new fifth-digits have been provided for codes in categories 203-208, with fifth-digit 1 indicating that the condition is "in remission" and fifth-digit 0 indicating that there is no mention of remission.
