Mechanical Thrombectomy of Lower Extremity
A 68-year-old patient was found to have acute thrombus in the right common and external iliac arteries. A thrombectomy catheter was passed through the iliac artery and large amount of thrombus was extracted. Following thrombus extraction, a catheter was inserted into the proximal common femoral artery. Intraoperative angiogram of the common and external iliac arteries revealed them to be widely patent. Sluggish flow was found in the internal iliac artery that was consistent with thrombus.
