New Section X Codes—New Technology Procedures
Effective October 1, 2015, a new section titled, “Section X New Technology” has been created in ICD-10-PCS. Two of the new section X code values describe new equipment used during a procedure: “Orbital Atherectomy Technology” (equipment used to assist in the performance of coronary artery atherectomy), and “Intraoperative Knee Replacement Sensor” (an aid used during knee replacement surgery).
