Patent ductus arteriosus closed with Amplatzer vascular plug

Patient presents to have device occlusion of the patent ductus arteriosus. Access to the right femoral vein and artery was obtained percutaneously and French sheath inserted. Right atrial, right ventricular and pulmonary pressures were measured. A retrograde aortography identifies the presence of a type E ductus arteriosus. The catheter is advanced over a Rosen wire and across the ductus arterious antegrade (from the pulmonary artery side). The Amplatzer vascular plug or ductal occlude was advanced with the distal disc of the device formed in the descending aorta, the middle portion of the device deployed within the body of the ductus arteriosus, and the most proximal disc of the device deployed within the pulmonary artery.
