Prodromal Labor

A patient was admitted at 37 weeks and 2 days gestation with complaints of decreased fetal movement and painful regular contractions. Due to discomfort, the patient requested an elective cesarean section. The provider discussed lack of cervical dilatation, concerns about delivery prior to 39 weeks, and the possibility of respiratory distress syndrome in the newborn. The patient elected to proceed with a low-transverse cesarean delivery.
