Provisional Total Hip Arthroplasty
A patient with a femoral neck fracture underwent an open left total hip arthroplasty. Following removal of the femoral head, trial femoral head and neck metal on polyethylene components were placed. At the acetabulum, a shell was trialed for fit, followed by placement of the acetabular component. A temporary acetabular liner was placed in addition. Suddenly, the patient decompensated and was not stable to continue the surgery.
