Revision of Transjugular Intrahepatic Portosystemic Shunt
A 63-year-old male who had undergone percutaneous portosystemic shunt placement for refractory ascites five months ago, now presents for treatment of portosystemic encephalopathy. The surgeon reduced the size of the indwelling shunt. Using an angled diagnostic catheter, the existing 10-mm diameter TIPS was cannulated. The diagnostic catheter was removed in exchange for a PTFE covered balloon and an expandable 4 cm long stent was inserted into the existing stent narrowing the diameter of the stent.
