A new code has been created to describe sarcopenia, (M62.84). The underlying disease, if applicable, should be coded first. Sarcopenia is the age-related loss of muscle mass and strength that combines to result in functional issues including increased frailty, mobility limitations and the ability to carry out activities of daily living.
