Sleep Related Movement Disorder
Effective October 1, 2004, code 780.58, Sleep related movement disorder, has been created to uniquely identify sleep related movement disorders. This code includes periodic limb movement disorder (PLMD). PLMD, which affects people only during sleep, is characterized by behavior ranging from shallow, continual movement of the ankle or toes, to wild strenuous kicking and flailing of the legs and arms. Movement of the legs is more typical than movement of the arms in PLMD.
