A new code, 02.96, Insertion of sphenoidal electrodes, has been added to Volume Three of ICD-9-CM, effective October 1, 1992. All inclusion term under 02.93, Implantation of intracranial neurostimulator, has been added to help differentiate intracranial neurostimulators from sphenoidal electrodes.
