November 2022 pages 12-15 Endoscopic Bariatric Device Procedures In the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT®) 2023 code set, two new codes (43290, 43291) have been added to the Esophagogastroduodenoscopy subsection in the Digestive System section to report esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) with deployment and removal of a gastric bariatric device (eg, balloon) under endoscopic guidance. This article provides an overview of the appropriate use of these new codes.
